TESTIMONIALS

MJ – Owner of PC1 Cabin

We have an amazing amount of space for 1000+ square feet.  The built in storage areas behind the spare bedroom doors, under the dining area bench and beside the fireplace are wonderful for storing "stuff".  Radiant heating is perfect; even heat and no dust like is around from forced air heat.  The bench and storage space in the room entered from outside or the garage is our perfect "mud room". Having three bedrooms and two full baths in this space seems almost impossible but is a big plus.  The large windows and high ceilings in the dining, living and kitchen area makes it seem quite large.  The benches are a must and are used so often.  And for seasonal storage the drop down ladder in the garage works perfectly.  We love our mountain home!

Here is a list of the high points we find important to us:

  • Efficient design with radiant in floor heat and low energy bills

  • Less than 20 steps from the center of the house to any part of the cabin

  • In town convenient location

  • built-ins throughout are great and add useful functionality

  • Open design when you walk in to cabin

We have made many changes to personalize the cabin. We started with a great product and made it even better for us.

KMO - Columbine Lake cabin plans

Our lot has an unusual shape with some great lake views. What Brad accomplished within setback requirements and a small footprint upon which to work is nothing short of incredible. He captures the very essence of western cabin living with comfort, warmth and pragmatism. Brad knows so much about maximizing space that small is not small - it’s cozy and engaging and welcoming. The placement of windows, the design of the roof to work with the deck, and even the built-in benches and little nooks, all interact to bring the outside in and vice versa. This is a cabin that is timeless in design and yet, a very livable home.

Working with Brad was a real pleasure! He took the fundamental ideas and vision we had for our home and brought them into reality. We had a number of antique pieces we wanted to build into the design of the house; he was able to integrate the old with the new and give us a great home. His flexibility and interest in ensuring we got what we needed were critical to our enjoying the experience of not only designing our home, but living there!

BC – Owner of Lake House 1

We like the rustic, mountain look and feel of the cabin combined with modern amenities. Log and cedar shake accents on the outside are matched with built in modern appliance on the inside (gas range and oven, dish washer and refrigerator). Plenty of mountain  style energy efficient windows provide great views of the lake and surrounding landscape. Stone fireplaces are fitted with gas inserts. Separate furnaces for the upper and lower levels allow us to keep the entire place comfortable.  Plenty of built in cabinet and closet space provides ample room for storage of clothing needed for Colorado weather changes. The over size 2 car garage is adequate space for our cars along with our summer and winter "toys".

The home is so inviting to the lake setting when you first walk thru the front door your goes to the lake immediately. The layout is fantastic for entertaining with a great room feeling and phenomenal views of the lake and mountains. Storage space is abundant given the hand made cabinetry and shelving throughout the house. Our favorite architectural feature is the hand made stairway in the main room that sets the tone...this is a high quality mountain home

Our mountain cabin is the perfect combination of modern and rustic, providing all the necessary conveniences but also providing the cozy cabin feel.  It contains open, integrated gathering spaces and small, quirky spaces for quiet respite.  The main level is the gathering place made more cozy by built in wooden window seats in front of walls of windows, which opens onto a covered deck.  The upper level takes advantage of the peaked roofline to create the quirky feel of “grandma’s attic” with a built in bunkroom and a window seat that accommodates a twin size bed.   Log beams, posts and railings add to the rustic cabin feel, and every window in the house frames a view of forest and mountains.  The cedar exterior creates a cozy cabin feel with a rustic log look on the front porch, large log posts and railings on the deck, as well as dormer windows that add character to the roofline.  This combination of large gathering spaces and small spaces for individual contemplation makes it the perfect place to gather as a family and for each individual to get away from the hustle and bustle of life.

We have known Brad for a few years now and feel very fortunate to have had him involved in the building process of our house in Grand Lake. We were introduced to him after staying in one of his cabins downtown Grand Lake. We really liked a lot of the ideas he had in those cabins and we were able to incorporate those into our build. Our project was done from 1000 miles away and Brad was very accommodating. He is very professional and easy to get along with. Our finished project is unbelievable. He is open to suggestions and works around schedule and project changes with ease. I would highly suggest using Cabin Architecture and Brad for your architectural needs.
